Laini Saba Primary School

Laini Saba Catholic primary school is a holistic school build on a christian Foundation under Fr. Carlos May (The Parish priest ) and Fr Joseph the Ass. Priest from Mexico.

Laini Saba Primary and Nursery School is an educational Institution under the umbrella of Christ the King Catholic Church situated in Kibera slum in Nairobi. The School was started by the Parish in 1992 to answer the call of educational needs of children from Kibera slum.

Initially the purpose was to respond to the basic needs of food for the scavenging street children. Until 1995, this was a drop in centre for many street children living in the area and also school dropped outs. By then, the centre was offering only non-formal education along side rehabilitating the streets children. In 1995, the centre adapted the formal education system (8.4.4) used in Kenya; this was meant to offer basic education to these  children. Currently the school is registered by Kenya Government under the Ministry of Education and it admits children from all religions and different social and cultural backgrounds, giving priorities to rehabilitated street children, children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and very poor children from within Kibera slum. Both parents and guardians appreciate the physical, intellectual, spiritual, social moral formation and the academic atmosphere that the school offers to their children.

At Laini Saba primary, We  believe Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. It is the  the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence.We teach our children how to think, not what to think.

We do not train our children to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.

We are true teachers, because true teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their. However, Our school is in the slums but we will never let our schooling interfere with our  education. We have learn to use what we have to get what we want to take us where we want to be.

We Are People on the move

Laini Saba Primary school is under the new curriculum of the education of Kenya with qualified teachers under Sis Lucy the Head Teacher of the School. “We are ready to move and make changes to our society. We believe in hard work/ achievement” we are going to transform the image of the school and we are determined to go an extra mile. With God everything is possible.
We are on the move for the best. We will never let our schooling interfere with our learning. We are in Kibera slums sometimes the environment may not be conducive for our learning, but that can’t stop us from achieving our goals. From grass to grace to rise.
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. Don’t dwell on what went wrong. If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself. You are always a student, never a master.
If you look back, you lost. Moving forward makes change, move forward without wasting anything. Because forward is the only direction, of course! …And forward is where I think your focus should always be.
